Spotlight Interview with David McKellar

David is another outstanding act on Connect's roster who epitomises professionalism.


Q1. Provide a short bio about yourself
Hailing from Glasgow David McKellar is a singer/songwriter/producer . No stranger to the music industry having already supported acts such as Shed 7 at Glasgow’s O2 Academy and world famous Barrowland Ballroom.

In recent years David has worked with lots of different musicians including the Verve legends Nick McCabe and Si Jones, David Rossi of Goldfrapp and Coldplay. This collaboration would see his outstanding vocals on the track "Rope Soul’d" which would make it onto the John Martyn tribute album, Johnny boy would love this. Other pervious collaborations have included work with Paul Banks (Shed 7), Stu Fletcher (Seahorses) and Maxi (Audioweb and drummer for Ian Brown pre Stone Roses reunion).An impressive array of contributions and collaborations that secure his steady rise up the ranks. In the last 8 years David not only has he been involved with making new music but found himself very much in demand playing classic songs at weddings, clubs and pubs all across Scotland.

Q2. People would be surprised to know what about you
People always seem to be surprised that I am a father of 3 girls. Not sure why?

Q3. Favourite place to gig?
Best gig I’ve ever did was the Glasgow Barrowlands. Dream come true

Q4. Biggest music influence?
The Beatles and The Rolling stones

Q5. Favorite current song?
Coldplay Up and Up

Q6. Favourite heckle at gigs?
I can’t tell you its too rude.

Q7. One item you would couldn’t live without?
My morning coffee. Always gets me moving.

Q8. Song you are requested to play the most?
Thinking out loud - Ed Sheeran.
