SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW – MICHAEL CASSIDY
Q1. Provide a short bio about yourself
I am a musician from Paisley with over ten years of gigging experience. Performing has taken me the length and breadth of the United Kingdom as well as gigs in Europe, the USA and Canada.
Q2. People would be surprised to know what about you
I won the Gerry Rafferty songwriting prize for my song “The Men Who Stood Beside Me in the War” in 2013. It was selected by a panel and contained members of Gerrys family.
Q3. Favourite place to gig?
I genuinely like playing anywhere the audience are attentive and receptive to what I am doing.
Q4. Biggest music influence?
My biggest musical influences are Rufus Wainwright, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Laura Marling and Randy Newman.
Q5. Favorite current song?
Blake Mills - Unworthy
Q6. Favourite heckle at gigs?
1.“Why don't you give me the guitar coz you’re songs are rubbish”.
2.“You’re not very good are you”.
3. “Your jeans are rubbish”.
4. Subtle heckle - “So you what do you do for your actual job”.
5. “Get a haircut”.
